Give Give Us This Day Our Daily Avocado

My daily routine seems to revolve around waiting for avocados to ripen perfectly—just so I can eat at least one a day, as my health coach recommended. This small obsession has even reorganized my kitchen, pushing the bread onto the potato bowl and the avocados onto the Armatale bread plate that says: “Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread.”

Lemon, White Truffle and Olive Oil Dressing

This vibrant lemon dressing created by Bistro 92 was specifically crafted to enhance greens with a bright, citrusy flavor that pairs beautifully with fish, poultry, and vegetables. A subtle dash of white truffle oil adds an extra layer of depth, creating a rich yet balanced taste. One of my favorite ways to enjoy this dressing is by tossing it with peppery arugula to serve as a fresh, flavorful base for perfectly seared sea scallops. However, its versatility extends far beyond that — It’s equally delightful drizzled over grilled vegetables, roasted chicken, or even a simple grain bowl. Whether used as a finishing touch or a marinade, this dressing elevates any dish with its light, tangy complexity.

Cooking with Cast Iron

Cast iron is one of the best materials for cooking because of its superior heat retention, even heat distribution, and long-lasting durability. Cooking with Good Oils Versus Bad Oils

Choosing the right cooking oils can significantly impact your health. Good oils, such as olive, avocado, and coconut oil and ghee provide essential nutrients, healthy fats, and antioxidants that support heart health and overall well-being. In contrast, bad oils, like partially hydrogenated and highly processed vegetable oils, can contain trans fats and unhealthy levels of omega-6 fatty acids, contributing to inflammation and chronic diseases. By opting for high-quality, minimally processed oils with stable fat compositions, you can enhance the nutritional value of your meals while promoting long-term health.

Cheese Omelet on Avocado Toast ($2.75)

Here are two easy, quick recipes that when combined make a fabulous meal for any time of day.  And the cost to make this at home, even with the high price of eggs right now, is approximately $2.75 per meal. Literally, it takes less than ten minutes to prepare this meal for 1 or 2. Compare that with going out, waiting in line and fighting the masses for a table at brunch. The ingredients are: two eggs cooked with one tablespoon avocado oil and two tablespoons cheddar cheese; one avocado mixed with one tablespoon extra virgin olive oil with a teaspoon of "Everything Bagel" seasoning; one slice toasted sourdough bread.
